After defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final on May 26, the Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victorious in the Indian Premier League 2024. Mitchell Starc was named Player of the Match in both Qualifier 1 and the Final, where he unleashed havoc on the same team. But things were not looking good for Starc since he was costly and appeared out of touch on the league stage. The ball of the tournament was awarded to him when he dismissed Abhishek Sharma in the championship match.
After pitching to break the top of the off stump, Starc produced a delivery of greater length to the southpaw that angled in and veered. Many who watched concurred that it was the greatest ball of the 2024 Indian Premier League. The Australian stood up during the tournament’s pivotal phase, and KKR coach Gautam Gambhir praised him for it.

As KKR wins its third championship, Gautam Gambhir has been in the news a lot because of his mentoring. His name is being promoted as Rahul Dravid’s replacement as head coach of the Indian team. However, neither side has issued a formal statement due to the fact that everyone’s focus is still on the T20 World Cup, which starts on June 2.
