'Main challenge will be the conditions'- Gautam Gambhir on preparations leading to BGT 2024-25

After losing to New Zealand 3-0 at home in the series, India is in a very tight place. It won’t be a simple task, especially considering the form of several veteran cricketers, but the Rohit Sharma-led team must defeat Australia 4-0 in the forthcoming five-match Test series in order to secure their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) finals. Even still, the Indian camp is upbeat and anticipates a stronger showing.

Gautam Gambhir, the head coach, thinks that the circumstances in Australia, which differ greatly from those in India, will be the biggest obstacle. Due to their previous experience playing on spin-friendly tracks in the subcontinent, the players may need some time to acclimatise to the Australian conditions, which greatly benefit the pacers. Gambhir is aware of this and stated that the training camp before the opening Test in Perth on November 22 will be crucial.

The first obstacle will be the conditions, which varies greatly between India and Australia. Both the players and the support staff are affected by this. There is nothing better than having good preparation. That experience will be important because we have visited Australia numerous times. “We’re prepared to start right away,” Gambhir declared during the press conference.

Numerous seasoned players on our team have played in these circumstances. For the younger players, those contributions will be necessary. Ten days have passed since the first Test,” Gambhir continued.

We lost the game to New Zealand: Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir acknowledged that New Zealand was outplayed in all three games and that they were the superior team in the series. “I have a great relationship with Rohit, and I hope to get back on track in Australia,” the 43-year-old said, humbly accepting all of the criticism that the squad received after the series loss.

The New Zealand team outperformed us. I am not going to defend. We accept the criticism we receive graciously and continue on our way. Rohit and I get along well.
