Ahead of India’s tour of England, head coach Gautam Gambhir said he is feeling fine. Headingley will host the start of the five-match Test series on June 20.
Gautam Gambhir stated that he is confident in the team and that the players are enthusiastic and prepared to compete. The former Indian opener acknowledged that Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for every Test match has not yet been decided.
“You’re in a good place all the time. Everyone aspires to succeed. If it’s a fresh start, it doesn’t really matter. During the pre-departure press conference, Gambhir stated, “We have players who want to go out and express themselves.”
“The call that Test Bumrah will make has not been answered. It will also rely on the outcomes of the games,” he said.
Gautam Gambhir: I’m always under pressure.
Being the head coach comes with continual pressure, which Gambhir admitted. Regardless of the results, he said, the pressure will remain.
I am constantly under pressure, to start. You want the outcomes because you are the coach. Winning or losing has no bearing on anything,” Gambhir stated.
Roadshows should be avoided: Gautam Gambhir
He also spoke about the terrible stampede that killed eleven persons on June 4 at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) championship celebration. Gambhir lamented the passing and underlined the significance of accountability while planning such gatherings.
“We shouldn’t have roadshows, in my opinion. We can be more certain about this in the future. My thoughts and prayers are with those who have died. For this, we are all equally accountable. I just have one thing to say: we must take responsibility. Every life counts. We shouldn’t put on a road show if we’re not prepared. “You can’t lose eleven people,” Gambhir said.
