CAB President Snehasish Ganguly bats for more time for head coach Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of India, hasn’t had the best start to his coaching career. He was the focal point of a 3-1 loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, a home series thumping by New Zealand, and the first bilateral series loss to Sri Lanka in 27 years in ODIs. His credibility as a coach has been heavily criticised due to the dismal run of outcomes.

The series against England, which begins with the first Twenty20 International at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, will be his next coaching job. Snehashish Ganguly, the president of

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), supported Gautam Gambhir before of the match in spite of the recent failures.

“His attitude has made me pleased. After 12 years as a coach, KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) saw success. We ought to wait for him. He has been leading the squad since Rahul Dravid left a few months ago,” Ganguly said, as reported by News18.

Mohammed Shami’s is in good shape and ready to travel.

Shami’s preparedness for the Champions Trophy is another crucial metric that the series would offer. The renowned bowler has not been included in the mix since his final appearance for India at the 2023 Cricket World Cup. He recently made an impression for Bengal in the domestic circuit while recovering from knee surgery. Seeing how Shami performs in the matches against England would be intriguing.

India great Sourav Ganguly’s older brother, Snehasish, expressed confidence in star pacer Mohammed Shami’s successful return to international cricket.

After a year, he returned and bowled brilliantly for Bengal. As I watched him bowl, he appeared to be in excellent physical condition. He appears to be in good shape and ready to go, just like the previous Mohammed Shami,” Ganguly continued.

In the coming weeks, India will play England in three ODIs after a five-match T20I series, which will be critical for Gambhir’s future in the team. The 43-year-old will be expected to return the team to winning ways after the recent setbacks.
