After missing a portion of the T20I series owing to an injury, captain Natalie Sciver-Brunt has fully recovered and will lead the group in the 50-over portion of the trip. The 15-man England Women’s team has been announced for the ODI portion of the current multi-format series against India Women.
Regarding Sciver-Brunt’s availability for the ODI leg of the series beginning on July 16, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released a statement. It stated that she will be using her all-rounder skills to supplement her captaincy abilities for the three matches. Maia Bouchier and Sophie Ecclestone, meanwhile, are also well-known members of the team.
“Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is expected to play a full part in the series despite missing the end of the Vitality IT20 series with a groin injury,” the board said in a formal statement on Tuesday, July 8.
Tammy Beaumont (wk), Amy Jones (wk), Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Kate Cross, Alice Davidson-Richards, Charlie Dean, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Linsey Smith, Lauren Bell, Em Arlott, Sophia Dunkley, Emma Lamb, and Nat Sciver-Brunt (c) make up the England Women’s ODI team.
With a few games remaining in the five-match series, the hosts are behind 1-2 and have been falling behind in the Twenty20 Internationals. With a daring hundred from Smriti Mandhana, the Indians won the opening match handily. The sides will now play in a crucial fourth game on Wednesday with the series on the line after the Tammy Beaumont-led squad recovered in the second game but lost the third one to the Indians once more.
Speaking about the three matches in the ODI series, the first match between the two teams will take place at Southampton’s Rose Bowl. Following that, the teams will fly to London for the second match at the Lord’s in London. The trip will come to an end on July 22 with the third and final match of the series at Chester-le-Street’s Riverside Ground.
