Mohammad Kaif gave a thorough explanation of the current state of Indian cricket and the reasons why the Test team is not as strong at home as it once was. Following the 0–2 thumping in the two-match Test series against South Africa, the Indian team and support personnel have been the target of harsh criticism.
According to Kaif, the team management is clueless about what isn’t functioning. He also mentioned how, after losing on a rank-turner in the first Test, India changed their strategy and played on a flatter deck in the second. The former Indian hitter claims that the team’s success is being hampered by this type of short-term strategy.
“There isn’t a straightforward solution. Everyone is aware that there are two or three answers to this. I believe that the team’s leaders are unaware of the problems. The outsiders are aware of the problem. After just one game, India’s strategy was altered after losing the opening Test. In Guwahati, they played on a nicer track with some grass. We are suffering from this short-term planning. There are no senior players present. In the most recent video posted to his YouTube page, Kaif stated, “They informed Ravichandran Ashwin that we wouldn’t be able to find a spot for you in the eleven, so he retired.”
It is a combination of multiple issues: Kaif
In the past, in India, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja would rout opposition batting lineups, Kaif recalled.
Ashwin resigned earlier this year, and Washington Sundar hasn’t been able to take his place, according to the former cricket player turned analyst.
In India, it was difficult for any batter to establish himself against Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Despite being brought in, Washington Sundar is not nearly as good as the bowlers they were. They are unable to make up for the seniors who were taken out. Not even the new guys are consistently given opportunities. Therefore, it is impossible to identify a single factor here. It is a combination of multiple issues.
