For SA20 Season 3, Rashid Khan and his Afghanistani partner Azmatullah Omarzai will return to MI Cape Town. After becoming a member of the first Afghanistan side to go to the semi-finals of the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the US, Rashid and Azmatullahi are brimming with confidence.
Rashid Khan captained MI Cape Town during the inaugural SA20 season, but a back injury forced him to miss the following one.
The leg-spinner was especially frugal, claiming nine wickets at an average of 30.0 over ten matches, with an economy rate of just 6.92. Azmatullah, on the other hand, is an all-rounder who bowls seam and hits hard, adding a lot of explosiveness to the MI Cape Town lineup. Having participated in 105 games in leagues including the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan Super League, Lanka Premier League, and Global T20 Canada, the 24-year-old is an accomplished franchise league cricket player.
Having taken 11 wickets at an average of 8.81 and an economy of 4.85, he was the Montreal Tigers’ top wicket-taker in the most recent Global T20 Canada.
Nuwan Thushara, a left-arm seamer from Sri Lanka who took the place of English fast bowler Jofra Archer in the previous season, has also been retained by MICT. Thushara took eight wickets at an average of 19.25 in five games. His slinging action is similar to that of Sri Lankan icon and MI Cape Town fast bowling coach Lasith Malinga.
Englishman Chris Benjamin, who was born in South Africa, has also been kept by MICT. The hard-hitting hitter is seeking to improve on his lack of playing time in Season 2. Benjamin, 25, played for MI Emirates and was previously a member of the MI family.

In the meantime, Afghanistan mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has joined the Paarl Royals to bolster their spin unit for SA20 Season 3.
