By capturing the IPL title in 2025, RCB put an end to their protracted quest. According to Ambati Rayudu, RCB will begin to appreciate the work put forward by clubs like CSK, who have won five titles in a row.
After winning their first trophy in the 18th edition of the league, former Chennai Super Kings star Ambati Rayudu believes Royal Challengers Bengaluru would now understand how hard it is to win the Indian Premier League crown.
It was incredibly satisfying. RCB is now aware of how challenging winning the IPL is, and how much more difficult winning it five times is. You see, if winning once is so difficult, just think of how difficult winning five times must be. Therefore, it’s excellent that they knew what it took to win. Isn’t it good? They will now relax as well. RCB will settle down. They will relax now that they have joined the winners’ club,” Rayudu said in an interview with internet celebrity Shubhankar Mishra.
Ambati Rayudu also mentioned how RCB realised the benefits of maintaining a consistent squad rather than switching players about in their starting lineup, which ultimately paid off.
“RCB figured it out this year (not making many changes).” In accordance with their players and plans, they always used the same squad. Observe how Tim David performed well and how finishers like Jitesh (Sharma) came through; it was a mix. After many years, RCB finally got it, which is great because each team becomes stronger every year, which means the competition gets better,” he continued.
In the IPL 2025 final held in Ahmedabad in June of this year, RCB defeated Punjab Kings to win. They had participated in three summit confrontations prior to this (2009, 2011, 2016), but they had not won any hardware.
The two most notable players for RCB during their championship-winning season were Virat Kohli (657 runs in 15 innings) and Josh Hazlewood (22 wickets in 12 innings). Important roles were also performed by Phil Salt, captain Rajat Patidar, Krunal Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
