IPL 2025: Due to a finger fracture, Glenn Maxwell will miss the rest of the season.

Due to an injury, star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will not be participating in the 2025 Indian Premier League. The star player’s early withdrawal from the 18th league edition was caused by a fractured finger. Shreyas Iyer acknowledged the story during the CSK vs. PBKS toss and asserted that they had not yet considered replacing the star player.

Against CSK, the captain of PBKS chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Iyer acknowledged that Maxwell’s injury was significant when Danny Morrison asked him for an update, and as a result, the Australian was disqualified from the rest of the competition. He affirmed that Maxwell would not be included in the squad’s starting lineup against the home team.

“Glenn Maxwell, who has a shattered finger, will be missed. As of yet, we have not chosen a substitute. Yes, we will most likely remain with the lineup from our last game. I’m not sure what has changed. However, Iyer stated during the toss that most of the players were present.

The Melbourne native returned to his old team after being purchased by PBKS for INR 4.2 crore at the 2025 IPL auctions. The seasoned player’s homecoming did not go well because he was unable to bat well for the runners-up in 2014. Despite playing seven games and failing as a batsman in this edition, the 2014 season’s MVP performed admirably as a supporting bowler.

The right-hander’s greatest score was 30, and he only managed 48 runs in 6 innings with a batting average of 8.00 and a dismal strike rate of 97.96. Glenn Maxwell missed a half-century in a contest for the second consecutive season.

Like the 2024 season, he was better with the ball. In six innings, the right-arm slow off-spinner took four wickets at an economy rate of 8.46, a bowling average of 27.50, and a respectable bowling strike rate of 19.50.
