Having just a few test centers certainly helps players: Ravichandran Ashwin

Like weather and drainage, which we must invest in. Ashwin said they were obvious.

Having just a few test centers certainly helps players: Ravichandran Ashwin

The second Test between India and Bangladesh ended recently in Kanpur, with Team India managing to steal the victory. The rain mostly stopped the fight. Day 1’s play was marred by rain after 35 overs. In addition, because to the rain and wet outfield, Days 2 and 3 were canceled.

India pulled off a surprise victory over Bangladesh on Days 4 and 5, putting up a strong display. The time that both sides lost during the second Test has been attributed to the damp outfield and inadequate drainage system at Kanpur’s Green Park.

In a recent interview, seasoned Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin was questioned about the same thing. Given the state of the Kanpur venue, a number of people raised the question of whether Test cricket in India should only be played in specific locations. Ashwin offered his opinion on the matter.

“The fact that there are so many Test venues means that players from all across the nation travel to play Test cricket. Due to its size, cricket players feel compelled to come and represent this nation with a great deal of urgency and emotion. The Indian Express cited Ashwin as stating, “That is a big positive.”

The second is that specific prerequisites must be met in order for a Test match to occur. For example, the type of drainage system we need to be able to invest in and the weather. These are obvious choices,” he continued.

Additionally, Ashwin drew a contrast between Australia and England, noting that each nation only uses particular locations for Test cricket matches when team India visits them.

Does having a small number of Test centers benefit a player? It most definitely does. Because they only play India at five Test centres when we visit Australia. At Canberra’s Manuka Oval, they don’t play us. At none of the other locations there, they don’t play us.

They won’t have much experience with the circumstances. England does same. There are certain test centers where they are active. Ashwin said, “Some of those are just white ball centers.”
