Pakistan announces a 15-member team for the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup; Fatima Sana takes Nida Dar's place as captain

The pacer Fatima Sana of Pakistan will lead the team in the next Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in lieu of Nida Dar. The main event was moved from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to political turmoil in Bangladesh.

Notably, this will be the first ICC T20I event that Fatima Sana is captaining the squad. Before, the 22-year-old captain of the team played in two One-Day Internationals and took Dar’s place in a game when Dar was injured.

Following their visit of Sri Lanka for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup last month, the Women-in-Green have kept with the same squad. One notable addition is Sadaf Shamas, who took Najiha Alvi’s place as the wicketkeeper-batter. Shamas participated in the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup, which is noteworthy. The worldwide event’s 15-member roster has been revealed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Pakistan’s team is nearly identical to that of the previous T20 World Cup.

Ten players from the previous tournament edition have been selected for the upcoming big cricket carnival, which is one of the most intriguing aspects of the roster that has been revealed.

Pakistan squad for Women’s T20 World Cup:

Fatima Sana (c), Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Gull Feroza, Iram Javed, Muneeba Ali (wk), Nashra Sandhu, Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal (subject to fitness), Sidra Amin, Syeda Aroob Shah, Tasmia Rubab, Tuba Hassan.

Travelling reserve: Najiha Alvi (wicketkeeper).

Non-travelling reserves: Rameen Shamim and Umm-e-Hani.
