The IPL multilingual transmission in multiple regional languages created a sense of relatability among Indian viewers. The lucrative league was seen in twelve different languages across the country, with Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Odia, Marathi, Haryanvi, Bihari, Punjabi, and Gujarati being the most popular languages outside of mainstream Hindi and English. Unknown viewers have derived a distinct meaning from a Bengaluru gully cricket match, thanks to a Sanskrit-language commentary that went viral during the match.
Sanskrit is considered an ancient language because it was used to write numerous religious doctrines. Some English terms are said to have their roots in Sanskrit lexicon as well. Due to its widespread use, Muttur, a town 300 miles from Bengaluru, is regarded as “Sanskrit Village.” Conversations about the beauty of language began as soon as Arun Kumar Kalagi’s commentary video became popular. Karnataka Sanskrit University provided the catering for the cricket match, which was organised by the language study app Sthaayi.
