After Saturday night’s hat-trick of victories in the Indian Premier League 2024, captain Faf du Plessis wants his team to maintain the hard-earned momentum they have acquired over the previous two weeks. The previous victory was the result of RCB’s best overall team effort, which also included their best bowling and batting powerplays, as well as skillful fielding and lightning-fast hitting.
“Guys, you guys did an amazing job tonight. As we are in the field, I can sense the group’s confidence from my perspective. As we play the brand of cricket we want to play, I hope the group is beginning to realize just how terrific of a team we are.
Captain Faf du Plessis stated on RCB Dressing Room Chat, “That was such an amazing effort.”
“With the bat, I am aware that we weren’t playing at our best tonight in the closing stages. In the review, we will address that point. But let’s not forget to celebrate—we’ve put in a lot of work over the past three games. When we go on to the next game, we carry the confidence and the momentum with us,” he said.
In addition to praising the players for numerous other outstanding performances, assistant coach Adam Griffith said that the players had assembled the best powerplay performances for the RCB in both bowling and hitting.
“This evening’s 23-for-3 powerplay is the best of the tournament from a bowling standpoint. We were only struck for two boundaries over that period, so excellent work; the execution was flawless. We bowled according to the conditions, according to coach Griffith.
“We were talking about how hard it is to take wickets and how difficult it is to bowl a team out in a Twenty20 match; we achieved our goal of taking ten wickets, so congratulations.” We scored 5–26 in the final four overs. We had a wonderful finish. We bowled as a team, and each of us contributed in some way. And that 92-for-1 powerplay is the best the RCB has ever had at bat. Furthermore, Faf, that is the second-fastest 50 for RCB [off 18 balls]. “In the field, Virat made our first run-out of the tournament with a direct hit. Shahrukh Khan was a crucial wicket for us, so well done,” he continued.
The assistant coach also praised Swapnil Singh, who started the game by giving up just one run off the first over and went on to hit the winning runs with an unbeaten 15 off nine overs.
“A special thanks to Swappers, who at the very end managed to get the broom out.” Coach Griffith said, “Well done. You started and finished the game for us.”
