In order to announce his capability with his newest team, Faf du Plessis pretended to be on the phone and referred to the Arun Jaitley Stadium as his “home.” The Delhi Capitals used a fairly inventive social media post to reveal du Plessis’ contribution.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) have selected Faf du Plessis as their vice-captain for the forthcoming Indian Premier League season. This follows on Friday, March 14, when Axar Patel was announced as the team’s captain.

DC paid INR 2 crore to acquire Faf du Plessis.
His fourth team in the prestigious T20 competition will be this one. He was released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru prior to the November 2024 mega auction after three years with the team. In an attempt to strengthen their top-order batting, DC acquired the former South African captain.
Du Plessis’ only emphasis since declaring his international retirement in 2021 has been competing in domestic franchise events. He recently played for the Johannesburg Super Kings in the just finished SA20 tournament. The 40-year-old guided his team to the competition’s elimination round. He pitched 10 innings and scored 286 runs.
The IPL 2025 season is set to start on Saturday, March 22. On Monday, March 24, DC will play the Lucknow Super Giants at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam to kick off the season. This location will host the first two games in the franchise. DC won’t have the opportunity to perform in the Arun Jaitley Stadium in front of the Delhi audience until much later in the tournament. They had seven victories and as many losses in 14 games the year before, finishing in sixth place.
