KL Rahul has stated that batting at the top of the order is something he loves. The Indian opener revealed the special preparation that led to his success after reaching his second century of the series. Rahul disclosed that trainers with experience in Formula 1, a discipline where split-second reflexes are essential, helped him work on increasing his reaction time.
KL Rahul has undoubtedly been the series’ most confident hitter thus far.
Particularly in the difficult English conditions, his ability to play it late and leave the ball effectively has made a big difference. After being moved around the batting order in the past, he is now at ease with the idea of sticking with his favourite opening position in the future.
“I have been working on a few mental drills for the past year or two years. I spent some time with a specialist who can assist me get faster at reacting. As reported by NDTV Sports, KL Rahul added, “There are mental exercises and games that you can play that help you improve your reaction time and other things like that.”
“I’ve witnessed this in Formula One fairly frequently. I learnt this from one of the guys I worked with in Salzburg, Austria. I had the chance to visit and work with a few of the coaches there. It was really helpful to work with the top Formula One drivers and other adventure athletes who need a lot of this mental aspect of the game. Since I’ve been working on it, I suppose that’s the only thing that has changed over the past year or so,” KL Rahul continued.
The slower pace of the Lord’s pitch made Saturday’s century less fluid than Rahul’s last one in Leeds, but he adjusted effectively and managed to structure his innings appropriately.
Even as a child, I always loved to bat for extended periods of time. I could concentrate for extended periods of time and always enjoyed batting for extended periods of time, even when I was playing junior cricket. Rahul remarked, “I think a little bit of that and a little bit of this has just helped me in the last few years.”
Being dependable and performing consistently is something I’ve aimed for throughout my career. Therefore, I’m glad that in recent years, performances have been coming through,” he said.
