In all three formats, I would like to represent India. Expecting to return for tests, Suryakumar Yadav

Leading Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who led his country in the Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka, isn’t giving up on his Test career just yet. Even though Suryakumar hasn’t played for India in the longest format in over a year, he still intends to return in the red ball.

Suryakumar has informed the selectors of his availability for the second half of the first-class competition, which will run until the end of August 2024, despite the fact that he was not initially named in Mumbai’s team for the pre-season Buchi Babu Invitational event in Tamil Nadu.

Sarfaraz Khan will captain the team going forward, as he asked the selectors to hold onto the captaincy. It is anticipated that Suryakumar would play for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir in Salem on August 27.

Speaking about the same subject, Suryakumar Yadav declared that he wanted to represent India in all competitions. According to him, participating in Buchi Babu will enable him to get ready for the longest format.

Playing in Buchi Babu will provide me ideal preparation for the red-ball events this season, which is why I want to play for India in all three formats,” cited Suryakumar Yadav as saying.

Recently, in a T20I series against Sri Lanka, Suryakumar led India to an outstanding 3-0 victory. As India’s full-time captain, it was his maiden trip. He was left off the roster for the ensuing three-match ODI series, though. Suryakumar was dropped because, according to BCCI selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar, he is not now part of India’s ODI plans.

Additionally, the 33-year-old has plenty of time to play red-ball matches in order to prepare for his Test return, as the Men in Blue won’t play any T20I contests until their two-match Test series against Bangladesh in October.

The star batter’s most recent performance in first-class cricket was during the July 2023 Duleep Trophy, where he averaged 43.62 and amassed 5628 runs in 82 first-class matches, including 29 fifties and 14 hundreds.
