"Everything hurts when you lose a game," Rohit Sharma says after Sri Lanka's 2nd ODI defeat

On August 4, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India lost the second One-Day International to Sri Lanka by a margin of 32 runs. India got off to a wonderful start chasing an average goal of 241 runs, thanks to a blistering 64 off 44 from Rohit Sharma, who looked silly to the onlookers. India had scored 97 runs in 13.2 overs when Rohit was removed, and the squad collapsed after that as he insisted on playing consistent cricket.

After losing their skipper, India only needed 144 runs in 219 balls with nine wickets remaining. However, in nearly 29 overs of batting, the side could only muster 64 runs and lost every wicket. Only Axar Patel contributed significantly with 44 runs, while Shubman Gill and Rohit paired nicely together with 35 off 44. The 37-year-old continued, “To get the desired results, a batter must take risks and step over the line.”

“Everything hurts when you lose a game. It goes beyond those ten overs. You have to play cricket consistently, which is something we didn’t do today. A little let down, but such is life.

You have to adjust to the situation that is in front of you, Rohit Sharma added, according to the RCB’s official website.

We believed that rotating strike would be simpler with left-right. Jeffrey deserves praise for his six wickets. My batting style is the reason I scored 65. There are a lot of hazards involved when I bat like that. You always feel let down if you don’t go over the queue, he continued.

On August 7, India and Sri Lanka will play their third One-Day International at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. With a 1-0 lead entering the final match of the trip, Sri Lanka has the advantage. If India wins the third game, the series will be tied. Sri Lanka will make history if they win the final ODI and beat India—a feat they haven’t accomplished in an ODI series since 1997.
