Eoin Morgan thinks that RCB’s win shows other teams how to beat SRH and calls it “a wake-up call to how they take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad.”

On Thursday, April 25, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs, snapping their six-match losing record.

Eoin Morgan thinks that RCB's win shows other teams how to beat SRH and calls it "a wake-up call to how they take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad."

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, April 25, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were unable to play to their strengths because Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the toss and chose to bat first. This was according to former England captain Eoin Morgan.

In five of their previous seven matches prior to their encounter against RCB, the Sunrisers had the chance to bat first. Pat Cummins and company scored 235 runs on average in the opening inning. Their lethal batting lineup put the opposition bowlers to shame and established totals that were nearly impossible to surpass. RCB, on the other hand, chose to bat first on Thursday and put pressure on the scoreboard by aiming for 207 runs. Faf du Plessis skilfully employed his spinners to stifle the run flow through the middle overs, eventually restricting the Orange Army to 171/8.

Morgan thought that choosing to bat first after winning the toss and RCB’s 35-run victory was a crucial choice. In the upcoming games, he thought other teams would utilise this tactic against the Sunrisers.

In addition to what the wicket needs to be, that may have played a role in SRH’s defeat (did chasing lead to it?). We witnessed events at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where there was complete chaos. A straight shootout ensued. Because of the way they play, they will typically win in a straight shootout, according to Eoin Morgan on Jio Cinema.

“So, I think the way RCB played is, I think, a wake-up call to how the other sides take on the SunRisers,” Eoin Morgan went on to say.

Whether CSK returns to their successful formula, the CSK squeeze, will be interesting to see. Eoin Morgan

The Sunrisers will travel to Chennai on Sunday, April 28, to play the Chennai Super Kings, the reigning champions, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Morgan mentioned that, thus far, the batting surfaces in Chennai have proven to be favourable. However, he thought the Super Kings may benefit from playing the batting-dominant SRH team on a slow pitch.

“The next destination for them is Chennai. It goes without saying that we have seen excellent batting pitches at the Chepauk thus far. Therefore, it will be fascinating to observe if CSK returns to the CSK squeeze, which is effective for them. “We witnessed Marcus Stoinis’ performance the other night at the Chepauk in that chase on a good pitch,” the former England captain said.

Sunrisers are ranked third in the points standings after having five wins and three losses. Bengaluru, on the other hand, with two wins and seven losses from nine games, was still at the bottom of the table despite their victory over Hyderabad.
