England’s 2019 ODI World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan has declared his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 36-year-old is the only England skipper to win the ODI World Cup. He has participated in almost 350 international matches for England and Ireland combined.
The 36-year-old quits as the English team’s all-time ODI runs leader with 6957. Eoin Morgan shared the news of his retirement from all forms of cricket on Twitter. In his opinion, it was time for him to retire from the sport.
“I am declaring my retirement from all kinds of cricket with tremendous pride. I have determined that the time has come for me to retire from the sport that has provided me with so much over the years “Morgan issued a tweet.
“From 2005, when I moved to England to join Middlesex, to the very end, when I played for Paarl Royals in SA20, I have treasured every minute. There have been highs and lows, as there are in every athlete’s career, but my family and friends have been by my side through it all “he continued.

Eoin Morgan will continue to work with broadcasters upon his retirement.
Morgan issued a message across his social media accounts. Despite declaring his retirement, the 36-year-old also disclosed that he will continue to play cricket. The former England captain revealed that he will serve as a commentator and analyst for broadcasters at major international and franchise competitions.
Morgan, one of the best captains the England team has ever had, will leave a legacy. The 36-year-old athlete declared his international retirement in June 2022 and would no longer compete in any capacity. On February 8, Paarl Royals were defeated by Pretoria Capitals in the first semi-finals of the SA20 2023. Morgan scored 17 runs on 13 balls, but it was not enough to advance the Royals to the tournament’s penultimate game.
