As a finisher, it is my responsibility to ensure that my team crosses the finish line. Tim David

Tim David stated that the victory was significant because the conditions were difficult. Mumbai, 15 April 2023: Sunday’s encounter between the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium will be a special event, as it will be MI’s annual ESA match. This year, the initiative is devoted to a very special cause: the female child. MI won their first game of the season in their last match against the Delhi Capitals, with Tim David and Cameron Green finishing the match unblemished.

“As a finisher, it is my responsibility to ensure that my team crosses the finish line. This is my responsibility and my function. The previous evening’s chase was difficult, as they bowled exceptionally well in the final couple of overs.

“It was great to have that partnership with Greeny in difficult batting conditions to help us cross the finish line,” Tim David said.

He stated that the victory will serve as a major confidence booster for both himself and Cameron Green, who is playing in the IPL for the first time after experiencing success with Australia in international cricket.

“Knowing how much confidence I gained from that at-bat, I’m certain Cam would gain even more. It is his first few games in the IPL, which can be a unique and enlightening experience. I’m excited to see what he can do for us this season, as he is a highly regarded player on the international scene.

After batting at number three in the first two matches, Cameron Green batted lower in the final match, and Tim David stated that MI will maintain a flexible middle order throughout the entire tournament.

“It was truly unplanned. We genuinely line up with the individual who is best suited for the situation. We have a formidable middle order. As a team, we have discussed the importance of being extremely adaptable, and we are all willing to perform our assigned roles.

When questioned if playing the finisher position for a highly successful franchise like the Mumbai Indians adds extra pressure, David stated that he sets high standards for himself and only uses those as a measuring stick.

“I believe it is my own anticipation. I want to ensure that we win as many games as possible; as a batsman in the middle order, you must be versatile. Nobody will be able to replace Polly because he has served this team for a very long time. When I’m playing in that position, I must do things my way, whether it’s by hitting sixes and bowlers or by battling to cross the finish line in a close game.”

Sunday at 3:30 p.m., the Mumbai Indians will face the Kolkata Knight Riders.
