"England miss but they will miss Wood even more because there is no one who can bowl 95 miles an hour," added Vaughan.

England will miss Mark Wood more than Ben Stokes. Michael Vaughan

It has been suggested by former England cricketer Michael Vaughan that England’s next two Test matches against Sri Lanka will be without the services of star bowler Mark Wood. He disclosed that Wood has some advantages over other players in some areas.

Notably, he left the pitch due to a thigh injury he sustained during his 10 overs of bowling against Sri Lanka in the second innings. He was unable to play on the fourth day due to his ailment.

England triumphed over Sri Lanka with a commanding five-wicket victory despite his absence. Vaughan, though, believed that Wood’s absence from the final two Test matches might prevent The Three Lions from raising a fuss for the rest of the series.

Look at the entire England team, including Ben Stokes, right now. Mark Wood is the key. Ben Stokes is a fantastic cricketer and a star, but England will miss Wood even more because nobody can bowl faster than 95 miles per hour, Michael Vaughan said on the BBC Match special.

Because he contributes something no one else on the club can match, Mark Wood is swiftly emerging as the team’s most vital player. This is too fast for even Jofra Archer to bowl. Wood was bowling at a pace of 95 to 97 miles per hour, he continued.

Moreover, Vaughan expressed his opinion that the extremely flat pitch cost England on Day 4 of the match versus Sri Lanka. He said that it’s possible Wood doesn’t play throughout the summer.

“We witnessed it this morning when the pitch was flat, there wasn’t much spin, and there was no side movement. They were yelling for Mark Wood.” He is not coming to the Lords to play. He remarked, “It’s possible he won’t be seen again this summer.
