James Anderson

James Anderson, a talented England pacer who will play in the Ashes in 2023, had a slight injury while representing Lancashire in the current County Championship match against Somerset. Notably, the experienced bowler was in superb form on Day 1 of the match but suffered an injury on Day 2’s morning, which Lancashire later confirmed but did not specify.

Later, a club representative stated that the 40-year-old is being watched because there is no fixed date for his comeback to the pitch. There are many concerns for the England side ahead of the major competition because pacers Jofra Archer and Olly Stone are already dealing with their separate injuries.

According to the spokesperson, James Anderson is now off the field being evaluated for a minor problem, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Notably, Archer has only appeared in five games for the Mumbai Indians in the current IPL 2023. He recently returned to England. The pacer was allegedly having some problems, so Archer made the decision to go back in order to stay in shape for the forthcoming Ashes and ODI World Cup. Stones, however, could miss several weeks of action after hurting his hamstring while playing for Nottinghamshire.

On June 16, the Ashes Test series between England and Australia will start.
With more than a month until the start of the series, England is hoping that Jofra Archer and James Anderson will be healthy enough to participate in the opening test. Olly Stone, on the other hand, cannot say the same because he is quite certain to miss at least one of the first two games.

Some of Australia’s top players, including Steve Smith, Marnus Labhuschagne, and Marcus Harris, have already arrived in the United Kingdom to acclimate to the surroundings and get ready. By the end of May, all of their other teammates will have joined, but surprisingly, the visiting team won’t be participating in any of the tour games. On June 7, they will play India in the World Test Championship’s final match.
