England have got to find a different method of trying to put Varun under pressure: Michael Vaughan

At the Eden Gardens, the first T20I between England and India was a lopsided match in which the Men in Blue dominated the visitors. Varun Chakravarthy was the game’s star, bowling a fantastic stint against a formidable English batting order.

In four overs, Varun Chakravarthy ended with figures of 3/23 and was named the man of the match. In order to ensure that the English hitters did not escape with the victory, Varun Chakravarthy took out captain Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, and Harry Brook throughout the match. All the experts praised his spell, including former England captain Michael Vaughan, who said that the England batsmen must figure out how to put Chakravarthy under pressure after being impressed by his efforts.

“Chakravarthy is a charming mystery spinner who sort of returns the ball to the right-handers.” He will occasionally simply hold one up. It’s really challenging because he doesn’t spin the ball very much but does enough, which constantly brings the stumps into play.

He is intelligent and highly consistent. Vaughan said, “England must try to exert pressure on him in a different way.

In addition to criticizing the England hitters for their performance against spin in the game, Vaughan said that the team needs to figure out how to counteract spin in the series.

It didn’t spin very much today, so they need to improve how they counter spin and try to figure out how to score as well as survive. “You have to find that counter-punch to put bowlers under pressure in T20 cricket,” Vaughan continued.

However, only Buttler made a significant impact during the game, as England was bowled out for just 132 runs. With cameos from Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma, as well as a fantastic knock from Abhishek Sharma (79 off 34 deliveries), the target was knocked down in just 12.5 overs.
