Twitter Reactions: England dominated Day 3 of the Trent Bridge Test, putting on another Bazball masterclass

On the third day of the second Test in Nottingham, England came back hard to take a seven-wicket lead and a 207-run lead in the second innings. This came after the opening session saw the West Indies grab a comfortable 41-run first innings lead.

Once again, Day 3 saw intriguing cricket as both teams did their utmost to seize the initiative. With a healthy lead they had already established, the hosts would be the happier team.

At the crease, Jason Holder and Joshua Da Silva gave the tourists a 351/5 lead to open the day. In the third over of the day, England got off to a great start when they dismissed the former West Indies skipper. Prior to Alzarri Joseph starting a useful 24-run partnership with Da Silva, Kevin Sinclair also fell cheaply. Nevertheless, the West Indies collapsed to 386/9 as Chris Woakes bowled Jayden Seales and Joseph off consecutive deliveries.

England had intended to remove the Windies for less than 400, but Shamar Joseph (33) and Joshua’s daring performance saw them held at bay for 78 deliveries, scoring 71 runs. Woakes scored four wickets in as many balls, but the West Indies wicketkeeper was left stranded at 82.

Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett make another impression as England gains momentum.

At the beginning of England’s second innings, Zak Crawley was run out at the non-striker’s end after backing up too much, giving the West Indies a fortunate breakthrough. But again, Ben Duckett (76) and Ollie Pope (51), together with their incredible teamwork, knitted England into a respectable position. They needed just 143 balls to put up a 119-run stand. Pope left shortly after turning fifty, and Duckett left shortly after that.

But Joe Root and Harry Brook struck 108 runs without losing off 142 balls, putting England in a strong position. Ultimately, the Three Lions concluded with a 248/3 total, as Root and Brook maintained their unbeaten scores of 37 and 71, respectively.

Here’s how ‘X’ users reacted to the fascinating action on Day 3:

Seems like it was a good day of teat cricket if anyone wants to give me a rundown of the days play. #ENGvWI

Alzarri Joseph should have become the leader of West Indies’ bowling attack by now but he is still that inconsistent bowler.

After losing the first Test to England on the third day, the West Indies bounced back with a brilliant batting performance, scoring 457 runs to take a 41-run lead. Both teams batted positively, which delighted fans. Test cricket thrives on such matches. pic.twitter.com/aEEGsZsfuw

Brilliant fight from the inexperienced West Indian team.
When I wrote about reckless batting by England side – many came defending it. See for yourself and imagine Australia or India in West Indian place, you will not get a let off in the game.
