Heather Knight, one of the England Women’s team’s premier batters, suffered a terrible hamstring injury in their most recent match against the West Indies Women, ruling her out of the home summer. This is a huge loss for the team.
In the third Twenty20 International at Chelmsford, Heather Knight scored 66 from 47 deliveries to win the match. The former England Women’s captain had a fantastic innings, but she was not on the field for the second half of the game since she was clearly having trouble with her hamstring at the end of the first.
A follow-up MRI scan reportedly showed the severity of her injury, which has also prompted concerns about her availability for the forthcoming Women’s ODI World Cup. Although they are optimistic that she will be fully recovered and ready to be selected for the event this September, the ECB has confirmed in a statement that there is no set return date.
“It is hoped that Heather will be available for selection for the ICC Women’s World Cup in September 2025, but no return date can be set at this time,” the ECB stated in a statement.

“While it lasted, it was enjoyable. Although I will miss the remainder of the international summer and the Hundred because to a fairly severe injury to my right hamstring tendon, I still have my sights set on the World Cup. I’m devastated; the timing isn’t ideal, but I’ll do all in my power to return as soon as possible. The former England Women’s captain wrote on Instagram, “I’ve been here before and I’ll face this head-on, like all the challenges I’ve had in my career.”
