The only way England can win the Ashes is if their fast bowlers perform and keep their opportunities. Ian Chappell

The only way England can win the Ashes is if their fast bowlers perform and keep their opportunities. Ian Chappell

The famous James Anderson was given a hard talk by the England team management prior to the summer of 2024, after which the pacer declared his retirement.

The objective going forward is to develop players and assemble the ideal squad that can assist England in winning the forthcoming Ashes in 2025, as captain Ben Stokes made very evident.

In light of this, he urged the national side to adopt a faster tempo and added Jamie Smith to the starting lineup in place of Jonny Bairstow and Ben Foakes.

Stokes has, however, advocated an aggressive batting strategy since becoming the captaincy. This has produced some results thus far, but a series victory over Australia and India is still awaited. In the summer of 2025, they will play a five-match series against the team captained by Rohit Sharma, but Stokes isn’t letting that get to him because he is focused on returning the urn to England.

Ian Chappell, a former captain of Australia, acknowledged the temptation and said that England had a strong team, but he also pointed out the weaknesses in the longest format. In order to succeed in Australia, Chappell wants the Three Lions to improve on their prior struggles against tailenders. They are also being watched closely when they pitch, which will be difficult in Australia because the fans will yell at any opportunity.

“The England team needs to learn how to dismiss the bottom order cheaply in addition to catching well. In his essay for ESPN, Chappell stated, “Even though England has a fantastic offensive captain—the ideal leader for an Australia tour—their record against lower-order batters is frequently dismal.

Selecting the appropriate kind of player is essential for success in Australia. But England can only win a difficult series if their fast bowlers are effective and maintain their opportunities, he continued.

David Warner’s absence, in Chappell’s opinion, might affect Australia in the major series. He said that Jofra Archer’s return will add even more value, and that England’s pace unit looks formidable with Gus Atkinson included.

“To make sure the seam bowlers are supported by quick men, a fit Atkinson, Wood, and perhaps Jofra Archer would make up a formidable England side to travel Australia. Particularly without David Warner’s aggressive opening skills, the Australian batting is vulnerable, according to Chappell.
