“I have no idea what lies ahead, but I’m really open to whatever happens.” – Ellyse Perry is approaching 300 international games; 400 is her next goal.

Remaining open-minded about her cricket career, the renowned all-rounder suggests that playing 400 matches is not completely out of the question.

Ellyse Perry is approaching 300 international games; 400 is her next goal.

Ellyse Perry is poised to make history on Sunday, January 7, when India hosts the second match of the Twenty20 International Series in Mumbai. Perry will become the first Australian woman to appear in 300 international games.

Similar to this, the renowned Australian gamer gave some thought to her gaming career thus far as well as her future plans. The well-known all-arounder is still adamant about her cricketing career and suggests that playing 400 matches is not completely out of the question.

I’m genuinely open to whatever occurs if it’s meant to be later on and I’m still playing. I have no idea what’s in store. I don’t have a deadline for it. It’s just another number, so in either case, it doesn’t really matter.” ESPN Cricinfo cited Perry.

Ellyse Perry demonstrated resiliency by changing her style of play to regain her position as a key player after experiencing a brief exclusion from Australia’s T20I squad in 2022. The 33-year-old is still a key member of the national women’s team despite suffering a catastrophic hamstring injury during the 2020 World Cup. Evolution is crucial for players on the team as a whole as well as for individual players, according to Perry.

“For as long as I can contribute to the team and it’s something I find really motivating and enjoyable, I’d love to be here,” she went on to say.

Looking back on the current tour in India, where the hosts defeated Australia in a Test match for the first time ever, Perry emphasized the team’s developmental phase. In the just-finished series, 33-year-old Phoebe Litchfield, a young star, smashed her maiden century on Indian soil. She was not left out of the praise. Additionally, Ellyse Perry praised Annabel Sutherland for her steady work throughout the past 12 months.

“For us, evolution is booming right now. The way Phoebe Litchfield has played in those one-day matches and the way Annabel Sutherland has played in the last 12 months are good examples of it. We’re quite aware of the need to both preserve the success we’ve had and evolve it, making the team’s play a little bit different. The game is advancing so quickly. The surroundings have changed. “There are countless possibilities in terms of where it can go,” she continued.

Something like that always blows my mind. Ellyse Perry

In addition, Ellyse Perry thanked her family for their support and mentioned how much she enjoyed their ongoing online chats with her father, Mark. Her career in cricket, from a humble 30-person crowd for her Darwin debut to an incredible 86,000 spectators for the 2020 World Cup final at the MCG, demonstrates the sport’s explosive growth and popularity.

He always bowls me over. All things considered, Dad will always have the upper hand. It still amazes me when things like that happen, which has been a great joy. I think there were maybe thirty people at my first game in Darwin,” he said.
