Ebadot Hossain of Bangladesh has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup with an injury.

Ebadot Hossain, Bangladesh’s best bowler, has been ruled out of the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which is a significant setback to the country. Ebadot Hossain will not be traveling to the United States and the West Indies in June since he has been declared unfit. Just prior to the competition, he had made vague references to recovering quickly and expressed a wish to represent Bangladesh in the international competition.

During Bangladesh’s home series against Afghanistan in July 2023, the bowler and the umpire had collided. He thus had an anterior cruciate ligament damage and required surgery. Debashish Chowdhury, the principal physician for the Bangladesh Cricket Board, verified Ebadot Hossain unavailability on April 10. Before the T20 World Cup, Debashish put an end to all thoughts that the right-arm pacer would return.

“There is no chance (that Ebadot Hossain will return before the World T20).

We’re not even giving it any thought. His comeback doesn’t happen in that amount of time (before the World Cup). It takes eight to twelve months, but ten months is the minimum. He will not be able to return until at least October because he had surgery in December. He can return a little sooner, but he won’t be able to do so at the World T20, according to Debashish, who was cited by Cricbuzz.

Bangladesh is losing time due to the injuries of key players.

Prior to the major tournament, two additional Bangladeshi players—aside from Ebadot Hossain—have been prone to injuries. Both Soumya Sarkar and Taijul Islam have had enough time off the field. After running into an advertising board during an ODI against Sri Lanka, Soumya injured his knee. However, during the first Test matchup with Sri Lanka, Taijul suffered a knee injury. Despite the fact that the event is running out, Debashish is optimistic that players will return on schedule.

Taijul sustained a knee injury as well, however he continued to play despite it. He sustained an injury during fielding in the first Test, and since then, recovery is crucial. Soumya and Taijul’s situations are fairly comparable. Given that both injuries occurred within a single week, the timing frames are rather similar. We are running out of time, therefore it will take some time for them to recuperate, which makes things harder for us. “I believe both will be fine (before the Zimbabwe series), but we are unsure of how long it will take them to recover fully,” he continued.
