Duleep Trophy 2025: Yashasvi Jaiswal falls cheaply vs Central Zone

In the ongoing second semi-final match between West Zone and Central Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground B in Bengaluru, Yashasvi Jaiswal was removed following his three-ball stay at the crease. In the team captained by all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who chose to bat first after winning the toss, Jaiswal is playing for West Zone.

A delivery from Khaleel Ahmed from the over-the-wicket angle trapped the left-handed hitter in front. In complete dismay, Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the pavilion after playing all over the ball.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was fired as a result of Khaleel’s effective use of the nippy conditions.

In the first over itself, West Zone lost their first wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal had actually profited from the match’s opening delivery. As the inbound throw drifted onto the pads for a boundary via the square-leg area, he clipped it.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of several well-known capped athletes who will be playing in a dugout full of celebrities. Along with emerging players like Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande, West Zone also features Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer. However, the Central Zone team includes, among others, Khaleel, Deepak Chahar, and captain Rajat Patidar.

Regarding Yashasvi Jaiswal recent performances in the longest format, he just finished a five-match series against England with a 411-run trip. He got a couple respectable performances to his belt while playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League in 2025. Along with Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel, he is one of the standby players for the Asia Cup even though he will not be participating.

Despite the hopes of cricket fans and commentators, the Bhadohi native was left out of the 15-man roster for the eight-team competition. He was previously rumoured to be one of India’s backup openers for the prestigious competition. But the team has moved forward with Sanju Samson, Shubman Gill, and Abhishek Sharma. Since Jitesh Sharma was chosen by the selectors as the preferred wicketkeeper, Samson is probably going to be benched.
