Duleep Trophy 2025: Shubman Gill, Dhruv Jurel out of quarter-finals

Due to illness and injuries, respectively, Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel were unable to make it to the Duleep Trophy 2025 quarterfinals. Jurel was appointed captain of Central Zone, and Gill was supposed to be in charge of North Zone.

In his first series as India’s Test captain, Shubman Gill scored 754 runs at an average of 75.40 in five Test matches during the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England. Before travelling to the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup 2025, which starts on September 9, he is anticipated to arrive in Bengaluru next week.

Haryana’s top-order batsman Ankit Kumar is leading North Zone in Shubman Gill absence while the latter has been replaced by Services hitter Shubham Rohilla in the team.

Prior to the match versus North East Zone, Jurel was sidelined due to a groin ache for Central Zone. The gang is being led by Rajat Patidar, who was originally appointed the Jurel’s deputy. The Central Zone team includes bowlers Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Abhimanyu Easwaran, the opening batsman for East Zone, was declared out with a fever. In East Zone’s season-opening match versus North Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) Ground in Bengaluru, Riyan Parag has assumed the role of captain. The other well-known players in the North Zone team are Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana. Later, they will travel to the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup.

South Zone will face the winner of the North Zone vs. East Zone match in the first semi-final, while West Zone will play the winner of the Central Zone vs. North East Zone match in the second. Beginning on September 4, both matches will take place at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. The final will take place at the same location from September 11 to September 15.
