The East Zone 2025–26 Duleep Trophy roster includes India fast bowler Mohammed Shami. Ishan Kishan, who recently scored two half-centuries for Nottinghamshire in the County Championship Division One, is captain of the 15-man side, while Abhimanyu Easwaran, an India Test player in England, is vice-captain.
Also on the team are Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar, and Riyan Parag. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, who scored the fastest Youth ODI century in India Under-19’s tour of England last month, is one of the six standbys.
In the IPL 2025, Shami made his final appearance in competitive cricket, taking six wickets in nine games for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He played his final first-class match for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy in November 2024. Bengal’s leading run scorer from the previous Ranji season, Sudip Chatterjee, was left off the squad, and the team’s second-highest scorer, Sudip Kumar Gharami, was added to the standby list.
Along with left-arm spinner Manishi, who claimed 22 wickets in seven games, Jharkhand’s top scorers from the previous campaign, Virat Singh and Sharandeep Singh, have been added.
The Duleep Trophy will be played in a zonal format, with squads being chosen by zonal selectors instead of national selectors. In a meeting called by Jharkhand State Cricket Association secretary Saurabh Tiwary, Alokendu Lahiri (Bengal), Abakash Khatua (Odisha), Sunil Kumar Singh (Bihar), Manish Wardhan (Jharkhand), Sumit Ranjah Das (Assam), and Upananda Debbarma (Tripura) chose the East Zone team.
