The absence of a third umpire and DRS in the Scotland vs Australia T20I series worries teams as good dismissal opportunities are missed

In the second Twenty20 International, Australia and Scotland faced off at Edinburgh’s Grange Cricket Club. The first Twenty20 international was easily won by the visitors by seven wickets, and the cloudy weather in Edinburgh set the mood for the second match. However, it’s possible that the majority of people were unaware of this or learnt about it only when there was a serious game to watch. This series did not feature a third umpire.

In charge of officiating the second game are Ryan Milne and Iain McDonald. The match referee is Richie Richardson, while the backup umpire is David McLean.

Just 16 balls into the game, it was obvious that someone was missing an extra eye because a possible stumping was unsuccessful. Jake Fraser-McGurk was bowled by Brandon McMullen with the fourth delivery of the third over. Fraser-McGurk made a move, but the ball missed the inside edge and ended up in the wicketkeeper’s hands. Charlie Tear acted quickly to remove the wood and made an appeal despite having no means of escape.

In T20Is, Inglis records the fastest century by an Australian.

Following Travis Head’s dismissal for a duck in the previous game, Scotland was unable to contain Josh Inglis. With seven boundaries and an equal amount of maximums off of just 49 deliveries, Inglis went on the rampage, hitting 103 runs.

Inglis also achieved the fastest century by an Australian in Twenty20 Internationals (43 balls). His strikeout percentage at the end of his inning was 210.20. The visitors lost four wickets while managing to muster a strong total of 196.
