Afghanistan bowler Rashid Khan isn’t as accurate as he once was, according to legendary Indian spinner Anil Kumble. Even though the young spinner has a skilful repertoire of variations, Kumble thinks that the hitters are no longer as intimidated by him, particularly in T20 cricket. Because of this, the former cricket player believes he would not be as productive for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League in 2026.
The Karnataka native voiced his opinion that Rashid is a little less effective now than he was in the past because there are bowlers who are just as excellent as him. Additionally, he advised the GT management to handle Rashid’s workload before the forthcoming IPL season and assign Washington Sundar and R Sai Kishore additional duties.
“I believe Rashid Khan’s freshness has somewhat faded.
He is not as formidable as he once was because there are now a lot more bowlers that are comparable. Along with bowlers like Sai Kishore, he has to manage his workload more. This season, even Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia can do more for GT,” Kumble said on JioStar.
GT should concentrate on their batting: Irfan Pathan
Irfan Pathan, a former cricket player who is now a commentator, feels that the Gujarat-based team needs to make the most of the Caribbean all-rounder, whom they signed for INR 7.00 crore at the mini-auction. With well-known players like Rashid, Holder, Jos Buttler, and Glenn Phillips present, Pathan believes GT should exercise a little caution while employing their four foreign players.
“It’s intriguing that they are betting on Jason Holder. His batting has improved, particularly his ability to knock sixes, but he is still a fantastic bowler with the new ball. GT has placed a great deal of trust in that. Their top three hitters—Jos Buttler, Sai Sudharsan, and Shubman Gill—are their greatest asset. Washington Sundar’s batting has also improved, so how they employ him will be crucial. Glenn Phillips, or whoever plays at number four or five, will also have a significant role, according to Pathan.
