Don't believe that anyone is superior to Jasprit Bumrah in any format: Tim Southee

India’s most effective weapon with the ball has proven to be Jasprit Bumrah. The brilliant pacer made his T20I series debut against Ireland in 2023, following a career-threatening injury. He has now become a vital member of the team, contributing to India’s victories in both the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup in 2024. He will be crucial for the squad in the ten Test matches that are coming up—two against Bangladesh, three against New Zealand, and five against Australia—as skipper Rohit Sharma’s go-to guy in trying times.

Test captain of New Zealand, Tim Southee, was all praise for Bumrah ahead of their journey to India. He praised the pacer for his impressive recovery from his surgery-required back injury.

jasprit Bumrah complied with Southee’s orders and maintained his performance throughout, juggling all the formats.

The 35-year-old continued by saying he believed Bumrah to be the best bowler in all formats right now. “After overcoming the serious injuries, he has returned to his previous level of performance, if anything better. Having to manage several formats on top of that can occasionally be challenging. It appears that he handled that without any difficulty as well. He is presumably more skilled and has a slightly better understanding of his game. According to News18, Southee stated, “It’s likely that he used that period of time after his injury to recuperate and feel rejuvenated.”

“Across all three formats, Bumrah is looking fantastic right now. Right now, he’s outstanding in all three. “I don’t believe he is superior to anyone in any of the three formats; he is amazing in all of them,” Southee remarked.

In preparation for the forthcoming Duleep Trophy, Bumrah is now on a rest. He may not participate in both of the Bangladesh series’ games, but he will be on the squad. The administration of the squad is closely monitoring his workload management with the aim of keeping him fit for the entirety of the Australia series.
