DK ignores top wicket-taker in T20 XI

Former India cricketer and commentator DK has shared his all-time greatest T20 XI for India in a video by Cricbuzz. The lineup includes a mix of experienced veterans and some promising youngsters.

At the top order, DK picks the opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Rohit Sharma, providing a left-right combination. Virat Kohli comes in at No. 3, India’s second-highest T20 run-scorer with 4188 runs, just behind Rohit’s 4231. Suryakumar Yadav, the current T20 captain, is slotted at No. 4 and will lead India in the Asia Cup 2025.

Karthik was quick to select the 2007 World Cup-winning skipper and renowned batsman-wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the team’s captain. The outstanding all-rounders Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel come after the Ranchi native. Karthik thinks Yuvraj is one of the most visually appealing batters he has ever seen.

It was anticipated that the former Tamil Nadu cricket player would select Yuzvendra Chahal as the starting spinner. He has, however, chosen Varun Chakravarthy, who has demonstrated great promise in the few games he has played in the game’s shortest format.

Bhuvneshwar is selected by DK, while Arshdeep is left out.

It’s noteworthy to note that Karthik chose Jasprit Bumrah to lead the pace attack but left out Arshdeep Singh, who has taken 99 wickets in just 33 games, the most for India in Twenty20 Internationals. Karthik has chosen Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the brilliant swing bowler who has fallen out of favour since the 2022 T20 World Cup, in place of the left-arm pacer.

The all-time India starting lineup of Dinesh Karthik includes: Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Abhishek Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, and MS Dhoni (captain and wicketkeeper).
