Indian vice captain Rishabh Pant was seen in London at the Wimbledon 2025 tournament, where he witnessed Jannik Sinner and Grigor Dimitrov’s Round 4 match. He took a break to play tennis when he was in London for the third Test match against England at Lord’s, which begins on July 10.
Rishabh Pant, who is renowned for his daring and unconventional stroke play in cricket, praised tennis great Novak Djokovic and described him as a player who may emulate his own bold style of play. India’s decisive 336-run victory at Edgbaston, the visitors’ first Test success there, tied the Test series 1-1.
Intriguingly, Pant declared that he believes Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz would win this year’s Wimbledon championship. Alcaraz defeated Cameron Norrie in the quarterfinals and will now play American Taylor Fritz in the semifinals.
“I believe I must back Alcaraz. He will win Wimbledon, in my opinion. That’s what I think. Rest assured that the winner will be the one who plays the greatest tennis in the end.
“I am confident that Djokovic can execute my shots,” Rishabh Pant told Star Sports.
Rishabh Pant also talked candidly about his lifelong love of tennis great Roger Federer, revealing that Federer’s famous backhand served as a huge source of motivation for him as a child. The Indian batsman-wicketkeeper also mentioned their similar on-field personalities as reasons for feeling a bond with Nick Kyrgios.
“I suppose Roger Federer was my favourite backhand player when we first started, and that was something that always motivated me. Djokovic has been outstanding, though, given how sport is changing at the same time. I think Nick Kyrgios (who shares Pant’s charisma) is one player I used to really like watching because of the way he plays and how much he likes it, which is something I always look forward to,” Pant continued.
With the bat, Pant has been in outstanding form, amassing 342 runs at an amazing average of 85.50 across four innings, including two hundreds and a half-century. When India plays England in the third Test at Lord’s on July 10, he will be back in action.
