On Day 3, Akash Deep achieved his first international half-century in India’s second innings in the fifth and final Test match at The Oval in London. The Bengal seamer was the nightwatchman at the conclusion of Day 2 and faced two deliveries. The 28-year-old frustrated England bowlers on Saturday, August 2, while forming a vital combination with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
On Day 2, Dinesh Karthik suggested the Indian team management would have liked Deep to bat out the last few deliveries. Dehri-born didn’t end there. Dinesh Karthik said Deep gave India more than they expected. The ex-cricketer also said England’s regulation failures hurt them.
“They couldn’t have asked anything more from him. All they wanted him to do was to probably just get past last night, which he did quite comfortably. Today, he came out there and played wonderfully well. Gave a chance early, they put down chances, that is what happens. That is the last thing you want. As it is, you are a depleted bowling attack, and then when you put down simple ones, it gets even tougher,” Karthik told Sky Sports Cricket.

Akash Deep hit 12 boundaries and scored 66 runs from 94 balls. On the stroke of lunch, Jamie Overton fired him.
According to Karthik, India is in a solid position now that Deep has knocked, and the batters who follow will be able to help the visitors bat England out of the Test match.
