Notably, he is the second name selected to the squad after Dinesh Karthik Tamil Nadu teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, another well-known figure, was added earlier this week.

The legendary IPL career of Karthik
The 40-year-old brings a wealth of knowledge from a distinguished career both domestically and abroad. Karthik made significant runs in all formats while playing for India in 26 Test matches, 94 ODIs, and 60 T20Is. He contributed 4,842 runs at a strike rate of 135.36, including 22 half-centuries and the maximum score of 97 not-out, throughout his 257 games in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Karthik has demonstrated his leadership and mentoring abilities in addition to his playing prowess. He worked with head coach Andy Flower as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) assistant coach earlier this year during their IPL 2025 championship run.
