After losing the Sri Lanka ODI series, Dinesh Karthik highlights India's gains

The topic of conversation has shifted to India’s 2-0 loss to Sri Lanka in their most recent three-match ODI series. The result eclipsed the humiliation the islanders had suffered throughout the T20I series at the hands of India.

Former Indian wicketkeeper-battler Dinesh Karthik has been thinking back on the positive aspects of the 50-over series. The most important and encouraging thing Karthik saw was India’s strategy of selecting important all-rounders for the 50-over team and then making sure they were in the playing XI for all three games. He saw this as a huge plus.

“India’s bold approach and use of all-round players is the biggest plus. Karthik said on, “So, that is something I really liked.”

During the tour, Riyan Parag made his ODI debut, and he was grateful to him for showing his potential as a significant asset on spin-friendly tracks. “No. 2, Riyan Parag, in his limited opportunities, is showing what he can do with the ball, which is again a small plus for us,” Karthik said.

Karthik also highlighted the important virtue of skipper Rohit Sharma’s batting, highlighting the starts he gave during the powerplay that created momentum.

I believe Rohit’s batting speaks for itself, aside from that. how he initiated the powerplay. Throughout the series, he was batting with such ease. Batted nicely. For me, these were the highlights of this series,” Karthik continued.

With his dominant performance in the Sri Lanka series, Rohit really made a name for himself. He returned from the T20 World Cup 2024 campaign in fine shape, and he was the series’ top run scorer with 157 runs in three innings from the Americas.
