In order to improve Jharkhand’s state cricket, MS Dhoni has been working behind the scenes. Although he does not currently hold a position with the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), the board has asked him for assistance when needed.
According to JSCA joint secretary Shahbaz Nadeem, the board has consulted the former India captain since the 2025–2026 season began. The former left-arm spinner for India added that the wicketkeeper-batter for the Chennai Super Kings has knowledge of every domestic player in Jharkhand and is eager to contribute to the improvement of the sport’s status in the state.
“We have consistently followed his recommendations and advice since the beginning of the season, starting with the hiring of the coaching staff. He kept track of every player’s strengths and shortcomings during the [SMAT] competition and talked with us about them. He is familiar with the data and statistics of every Jharkhand domestic player.
Regarding Dhoni’s impact on Jharkhand cricket, Nadeem stated via ESPNcricinfo, “He is very interested in helping Jharkhand cricket grow.”
Earlier this season, Jharkhand made history by winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the first time. In addition to leading the squad admirably, Ishan Kishan finished the competition with the most runs scored. Kumar Kushagra, another batsman-wicketkeeper, was also crucial, particularly in the match against Haryana.
Jharkhand performed admirably in the first stage of the Ranji Trophy prior to the T20 competition. With two victories and one loss in five games, they are ranked third in Elite Group A. They defeated Tamil Nadu, the previous champions, in one of their victories.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy will be Jharkhand’s next objective. They lost their first match in the 50-over competition. Jharkhand was unable to defend a massive 413-run mark against Karnataka, despite Kishan’s quick century.
In the meantime, MS Dhoni is preparing to play for CSK in the next IPL season. Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma are just two of the gifted young players the Men in Yellow signed at the mini-auction earlier this month. They will be eager to pick the brains of the season’s mainstay.
