The Western Australia-based team won the title for the fourth time thanks to a strong bowling display by the Scorchers and a swift 24-ball 46 from Sophie Devine. Perth Scorchers defeated Melbourne Renegades, the reigning champions, by 151 sets to move up to fourth place in the WBBL 2025 standings. Both teams have eight points apiece, with the Scorchers in fourth place and the Renegades in third.
After being called in to bat, the Renegades went down to 34 for 3 after five overs, losing both openers cheaply. Sophie Molineux, the skipper, was removed for just five runs. As the Renegades continued to falter, Lily Mills had Alice Capsey bowled as soon as they reached the fifty-mark. Nicole Faltum (41*) and Sarah Coyte (24), who put on a 46-run partnership in six overs, gave the Renegades a chance to make a respectable total when Georgia Wareham fell after a fast 21 as well. Nevertheless, the Rengades were dismissed for 150 in their allocated overs due to a few run-outs.
In response, Devine and Beth Mooney gave the Scorchers a flawless start.
The more aggressive of the two, Devine struck Bekker for a four and a six in the opening over before hitting Issy Wong for three boundaries in the second over. In a 15-run over, Devine also took down Molineux, proving that even she was not immune to the treatment. As her night grew more difficult, Mooney started to tee off, hitting Wong for two boundaries in an over after Coyte had taken down the dangerous Devine.
But there was a catch to the story. After having previously removed Katie Mack, Capsey bowled an incredible 14th over in which she claimed three wickets. Two balls after Mooney was stumped, Paige Schofield was caught and bowled. With the dismissal of Chloe Ainsworth, she concluded the over. The Scorchers needed to score 32 runs off the final 36 balls, which put the pressure on inexperienced players Freya Kemp and Lily Mills. Nevertheless, the two led the Scorchers to triumph.
