As of right now, RCB has won three of their last four games in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Their young batsman Devdutt Padikkal recently talked about how RCB great Virat Kohli served as his mentor and the goals he hopes to accomplish with the team in the future.
One of the new RCB talents who was included to the competition in 2020 was Devdutt Padikkal.
Despite being released soon after the 2021 season, he was later purchased in the 2025 mega auction by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) following a terrible season. In his third season (2021) with the squad, Devdutt Padikkal revealed that Virat Kohli had been assigned as his tutor. He also discussed the amount of knowledge he has gained from the two-time World Champion and great hitter. Additionally, Devdutt Padikkal has said that his main hope is for the team to win the title at last.
There is something quite unique about working with and being around Virat. He was assigned to be my team mentor during my third year with RCB in the IPL, and it was an incredible experience. Having one of the game’s greatest players serve as your mentor for two months was really strange. It was really intriguing. The 24-year-old left-handed batter told RCB, “I will cherish the things you could learn from him, just being around him all day is something I learnt a lot from.”
“Obviously, it is a dream for RCB to win an IPL trophy. Since I am an RCB supporter, I am certain that all RCB fans want this franchise to win the trophy. I share their sentiments. Even though I play in the IPL, I always have a soft place for RCB and follow them with the hope that they do well. I therefore always hoped that RCB would win if it weren’t for my team. My main goal when I rejoin RCB is to bring home the trophy for the team, Padikkal continued.
Regarding Padikkal’s season thus far, he may still lack the consistency he possessed throughout his first three seasons with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), but he did have a brief appearance against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in which he scored 37 runs off of 22 deliveries.
