Details of Prize Money for SA20 2024 Winners

Sunday, January 7, 2024: With a total prize money of R70 million (around INR 31.15 crore) up for grabs for Season 2, the SA20 is still the biggest cricket competition in South Africa.

The competition’s winners, who will be announced at Newlands on February 10, are expected to take home a hefty R34 million (around INR 15.13 crore). A portion of the prize money worth R16.25 million (approximately INR 7.23 crore) will go to the runners-up, while R8.9 million (approximately INR 3.96 crore) and R7.85 million (approximately INR 3.47 crore) will go to the third and fourth places, respectively. Additionally, R2.5 million (about INR 1.1 crore) and R2.0 million (about INR 89 lakh) would be awarded to fifth and sixth place, respectively.

At all six of the country’s stadiums, crowds poured through the turnstiles, making the first SA20 an unheard-of success. In addition to excellent T20 cricket, fans were treated to an unmatched level of entertainment. Playing in front of crowded stadiums undoubtedly energized the players, who elevated their performances. Aiden Markram, the captain of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, was named Player of the Season in Season 1 because he was the greatest player.

With R350 000 in prize money up for grabs for the Player of the Season, there’s plenty of motivation to follow in Markram’s footsteps. Jos Buttler of the Paarl Royals won the title of Batter of the Season, while Roelof van der Merwe of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape was named the Bowler of the Season. The prize money for each of these awards is R200,000.

The competition for Rising Star of the Season, which pays R100,0000 to the winner, will get more intense with the addition of the “Rookie” for Season 2. As of Season 1, Eathan Bosch, an all-around player with the Pretoria Capitals, is the champion.

The SA20 Season 2 match between the Johannesburg Super Kings and the defending champion Sunrisers Eastern Cape takes place at St George’s Park on January 10.
