A 13-year-old child was electrocuted at a cricket stadium; Delhi police have arrested the cowshed owner

Ten days ago, an awful occurrence occurred where a 13-year-old boy was playing cricket in the Ranhola area of outer Delhi when he was electrocuted. Notably, the incident occurred on August 10 and involved the victim trying to pick up a ball only to be struck by the live wire of an electric pole that was left exposed.

Following the incident, at approximately 1:30 pm on a weekday, police received a call about Aditya Mehto, the victim, and attempted to respond by going to the location. But by the time the police showed up, the victim’s condition had gotten worse. After being taken to the hospital, the physicians pronounced the boy dead. The Delhi police finally intervened on Tuesday, arresting an accused in the case, following the mother’s accusations of foul play by the electricity department and the cowshed owner, who was blamed for leaving the wire connection unattended.

“We requested property records from the gaushala owner and the owner of the cricket academy, which was being operated on the ground, following the incident. It was discovered that power was obtained from the pole’s electricity and that the live wire was attached to the gaushala. A police officer said, “The owner, Rishi Pal, was questioned and then detained.

Owner of a cricket academy is questioned by Delhi Police as part of a follow-up inquiry.

An further suspect that the Delhi police have questioned is the owner of a cricket academy that is located in the area. His involvement in the case hasn’t been made clear yet, though.

In the meantime, a case has been filed by the Delhi police under Section 106-1 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) regarding a fatality brought on by negligence.

Aside from this, the inquiry is still ongoing and detectives have been in touch with the relevant energy department. The officer said, “We have also written to the electricity department and are awaiting their response.”
