WPL 2025: Delhi Capitals Women retained players, released players and purse remaining before of auction

The Delhi Capitals have declared that they will keep their players as they get ready for the Women’s Premier League in 2025. After careful consideration and deliberation, the franchise has chosen to release Laura Harris, Ashwani Kumari, Poonam Yadav, and Aparna Mondal prior to this year’s auction.

Releasing players from a winning team is never simple, but that’s the challenge and allure of playing franchise cricket. The players our coaches and scouts have selected are those we think will further strengthen, balance, and complete this squad as we work to win the title. “I wish every player the best of luck,” stated Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly.

“Over the past two seasons, we have played some outstanding cricket and have an extremely strong squad,” stated head coach Jonathan Batty. Our choice to let go of these players, who have contributed significantly to our success, is never easy. My best wishes are with them.

“We’re using these releases to polish a few elements and to increase the squad’s depth and strength. Our scouting staff has spent the off-season thoroughly examining a large number of local players. We’re certain that we can close the few holes in our team and finish it at the next auction,” he continued.

The Women’s Premier League’s third season auction is scheduled for next month. In both tournament editions thus far, the Delhi Capitals have advanced to the championship game.
