At a base price of INR 10 lakh, the Delhi Capitals, who have placed second in each of the three WPL seasons, signed 16-year-old Haryana star Deeya Yadav. On Thursday, November 27, the Women’s Premier League 2026 mega auction took place in New Delhi.
After players like Laura Wolvaardt, Chinelle Henry, Shree Charani, Sneh Rana, and Lizelle Lee, Deeya Yadav was the sixth player selected by the Capitals at the auction. Deeya Yadav , who is ranked first among uncapped batsmen, opens the batting for North Zone and Haryana. She has caused a stir in the home scene with to her bold style and daring strokes.
In eight innings, Deeya Yadav amassed 298 runs at an average of 59.60.
She initially stole the show at the U-15 Women’s One Day Trophy in 2023. At a remarkable average of 96.33, she amassed 578 runs, including three hundreds. She also achieved a double century during her tournament run, which is an uncommon feat for women’s cricket players in the U-15 age bracket.
In January of last year, she was expedited into the senior and U-23 squads of Haryana, and she hasn’t looked back. The 2025–26 domestic season saw her play for Haryana at number three. Deeya Yadav aggressive style of play complements that of Shafali Verma, the Women’s World Cup winner and star Indian batter.
She led the state team’s innings in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, where she first excelled. Her impressive strike rate of 127.89 drew a lot of attention. North Zone had some exciting starts thanks to her aggressive hitting. She played a key role in North Zone’s advancement to the final.
