The Uttar Pradesh government has named India all-rounder Deepti Sharma as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The 26-year-old all-rounder has proven to be one of the most reliable members of the national team and has performed admirably when things got tight. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, presented her with an award and a cash prize of INR 3 crore.
Notably, Deepti’s path to fame started in the quiet Awadhpuri neighborhood of Agra, where she trained to be a cricket player with local greats like Deepak Chahar. In 2014, the cricket player made her debut on the international scene after putting in a lot of practice. The all-round player has since played in 194 matches for the national squad, taking 229 wickets. She has proven to be a useful batter lower on the order and was an important member of the Women’s Asia Cup teams in 2018 and 2022.
She also went on to earn a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, when India lost to Australia in the final, and a gold medal at the Asian Games in China. Deepti Sharma became the second Indian woman cricket player to win ICC “Player of the Month” in December 2023 as a result of her outstanding all-around performance. She was outstanding in the one-day international series versus Australia, where she and Georgia Wareham shared the series record for most wickets taken. The all-rounder thanked the media and discussed her goal to advance women’s cricket in India and across the nation in an interview with India Today.

Deepti Sharma climbed to the top of the women’s T20I rankings.
According to the most recent ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings, Deepti has risen to the second rank. She is now tied for second place with Sadia Iqbal, a left-arm off-spinner from Pakistan. In the meantime, Beth Mooney of Australia is now ranked first among T20I batters. With the help of her two half-centuries against India, the captain of Australia has been back in charge.
