They ended their league stage with a commanding 82-run victory against Nepal Women, thus Deepti Sharma, the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup edition’s top wicket-taker as of yet, had enough to celebrate. Their victory shot them to the top of Group A and guaranteed them a spot in the tournament’s semi-finals.
But from an experienced activist like Deepti Sharma, one always expects calm and collected conduct, which she has embodied throughout the years. She radiated the same composure after winning, mirroring the team’s confidence that surged from the opening game. Throughout their stay in the island nation, the team felt confident in every setting and condition they faced during a match. Deepti further highlighted how excitedly the team looks forward to the semi-final challenge.
We have been fairly sure about every (match), every circumstance, and the conditions ever since the first game. “We are excited about the semi-final as well,” Deepti told the media following the game, as cited by NDTV Sports.
She mentioned that since their last trip of the island nation, when they won the T20I and ODI series 2-1 and 3-0, respectively, the pitches’ characteristics and the surrounding conditions had not changed much. Deepti emphasised the significance of keeping things simple and giving each game your all focus.
Nothing has changed; just maintain a low key and focus on one game at a time. No changes have been made since I played here the last time, Deepti remarked.

The all-round player added that she never shied away from taking on problems head-on and that she was always ready to bowl in any circumstance. She credited her success to enjoying every game, careful preparation, and assiduously putting into practice the tactics that were discussed in team meetings.
“I’m always prepared to bowl in any circumstance. I prefer to assume the lead when faced with challenges. “It’s nothing special; I just enjoy every game, make plans appropriately, and put what we talked about in the meeting into practice,” Deepti continued.

It’s interesting to note that Deepti took at least one wicket in five straight games before losing against Nepal Women. Whether she can continue her run in the upcoming games is still to be seen.
