Deepika Hails Jemimah for Speaking on Anxiety

Deepika Padukone, an Indian actress, has showered Jemimah Rodrigues with admiration for her courage in sharing her struggle with anxiety and melancholy. Jemimah was the star of the T20 World Cup semi-final, scoring an undefeated 134-ball 127-run thump against Australia Women to give India a decisive win in the second semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025 on Thursday at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy.

Jemimah was tagged in an Instagram montage that Deepika posted of her during her post-match conference.

Deepika praised the middle-order batter for being so candid about her fragile journey, which has featured a number of difficult points in the past.

Before the upcoming huge event, Jemimah said that she would call her mother and cry her heart out. In the same manner that she found her parents to be her safe haven, she also encouraged others who were experiencing similar emotions to open up and confide in those they trust.

“I’ll be really exposed since I’m aware that anyone watching could be experiencing the same thing. And since no one enjoys discussing their weaknesses, that is the only reason I am stating it. I used to call my mother and cry before a few games because I was so anxious at the beginning of the tournament. You feel numb when you’re experiencing anxiousness, so cry the whole time and let it all out. You’re unsure about what to do. You’re attempting to be authentic. According to NDTV Sports, Jemimah said at the post-match conference, “My parents really helped me during this time.”

Even Deepika has experienced depression spells in the past, for those who were unaware. The 39-year-old’s symptoms, which included feelings of tiredness, despair, and emptiness, led to a clinical depression diagnosis in 2014. Even though she had a lucrative career and a loving family, she used to feel this way. Similar to Jemimah, Deepika made her difficulties public in an effort to de-stigmatize the subject.

In the semi-final, Jemimah won Player of the Match for her knock. It was her greatest score for India and her third ODI century. India now holds the record for the most successful run-chase in women’s ODIs thanks to the outstanding innings. She ran a lot between the wickets and hit 14 fours in her innings.
