On Tuesday, October 3, three matches—India vs. the Netherlands, Sri Lanka vs. Afghanistan, and Australia vs. Pakistan—were played on the fourth and final day of the ICC Cricket ODI World Cup 2023. In their second warm-up game, Australia and Afghanistan triumphed, but India once more faced a washout.
Afghanistan vs. Sri Lanka
At the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Afghanistan’s captain Hashmatullah Shahidi decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Kusal Mendis, who was the team’s captain, played a spectacular 158-ball innings. He didn’t receive much assistance from the other players, though, and Sri Lanka was bowled out for 294 in 46.2 overs.
As a response, Afghanistan successfully surpassed the DLS amended aim of 257 with 23 balls remaining. In 38.1 overs, Rahmat Shah (93 off 82) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (119 off 92) led his team to victory.
Netherlands vs. India
At the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, the game was called off before a ball was bowled.
Australia against. Pakistan
Australian captain Pat Cummins chose to bat first after winning the toss at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. David Warner (48 off 33), Glenn Maxwell (77 off 71), Cameron Green (50* off 40), and Josh Inglis (48 off 30) were among the runs, and his team was happy to accept the decision.
Pakistan’s reply had a disastrous start as they were reduced to 83/4 after 15 overs. But with their enormous century stand, Iftikhar Ahmed (83 off 85) and Babar Azam (90 off 59) stabilized the innings. After the pair went back to the pavilion, Mohammad Nawaz (50 off 42) made his best effort to get his team over the finish line, but they fell 14 runs short and were bowled out for 337.
